I have a 9 week old flyer who has been doing fine but just noticed he is exhibiting signs of a calcium deficiency. He is having trouble with his claws getting bound when climbing on fabric. I have just ordered some calcium supplements online, but won't have them for a few days. Any suggestions on what I can give him right now as far as a calcium blast?...Just tried a Tums whole and crushed, and Clementine (orange), and he's not having any interest. Feedback is appreciated.

Flying squirrels this young should not be having or showing any calcium problems. What type of fabric is he having trouble with? He should only have fleece, flannel, cotton or old tee shirt material in his cage. All squirrels have difficulty with terrycloth towel material and it should never be used.

What diet are you feeding? Have you seen the healthy diet thread?

I assume you're still feeding formula too, right? What kind and how much?
