The yogurt would be the type without artificial sweeteners.

Crystal, it is very refreshing to read your posts and acceptance of the advice that has been given. The Esbilac issue caught us all by surprise, but once we nailed it as being the culprit for the untimely death of hundreds of innocent babies, the company has been a thorn in many of our sides, and we are very hesitant to trust again. As HRT said, your babies should be gaining weight like crazy at their age, so we know something has to be amiss. Thank you for accepting the help with such open arms.

I raised a singleton in the spring 2019 on Esbilac and had no problems at all either. I raised a healthy boy to release. We started seeing troubling signs around September if I remember right. Babies started having lumps on the limbs. On X-ray, these lumps were clearly severely, broken bones. More troubling than broken bones was the clear signs of advanced MBD. At first, it seemed an anomaly. Then there was a second and then a third. Facebook wildlife groups started reporting the same thing and than BAM. They were everywhere and it was always linked back to Esbilac and occasionally to GME.

You wouldn’t have known. We had used Esbilac and some used GME for years and then, it failed us badly.

I’m going to leave this up to you. You might want to switch them to the Goat Milk temporary formula until the FoxValley arrives. You can use either the traditional recipe... 3 parts goat milk... 1 part heavy cream... 1 part full fat yogurt. OR, There is a new goat milk recipe that has more nutrients than the original. The ingredients are the same with different portions of the ingredients and it has a 1/2 egg yolk.

The reason I mention this is because of a syndrome called refeeding syndrome. In cases of extreme malnutrition, if you suddenly give nutrition the body goes into a metabolic collapse. I actually saw this once and it broke my heart. The baby had been on a deficient formula (don’t remember what it way) for many weeks. When proper formula was given the baby stared going downhill rapidly and eventually died. I wasn’t even aware of refeeding syndrome. It might be a good idea to get them on the goat milk and then slowly transition to the FoxValley.

They certainly do love the goats milk, cream and yogurt! And it does seem to be satisfying them much more. I cannot thank you enough!!! Will start FoxValley as soon as it arrives in 2 days.

To the one who stole my heart forever! Alli I love and miss you, til i see you again

They took to it real well and then today do't really want to eat. Sleeping a lot and sneezing. Any ideas? Is it the mixture?

Replied to a PM. Going to rule out aspiration. Try the GMF+ until the FV arrives.

Is the sound a real sneeze or a pfft sound? Squirrels make the pffft sound and it’s normal.

This is a chart of the amount to feed the babies based on weight. For the young babies, we feed 5% of the body weight each feeding but as they get older they will take 7% or even more as they grow.

They are precious Crystal. You should definitely see these babies gaining weight now that they are receiving Fox Valley.
Because of their rocky start, I would weigh them daily to make sure they are moving forward.

I know that in the country terminology can vary...

Ever heard of “cat squirrels”? They are a smaller version of a Grey Squirrel that we see in the swampy bottoms timber. It’s just what I’ve always heard them referred to as.
