    I believe they are the same butternuts that I have given to Sammy. They look a little more elongated, but the ones I have given are hard like black walnuts and he really loves them.

    Yup, they also call them white walnuts. Enjoy them while they last - there is a blight that is slowly killing all of the trees, much like the American chestnut...

    I bought them.
    I've gotten a very good price but I need to clean them.
    Most of husks are dry but there is a part that is still wet.

    How dry and how to store them?

    Can I do this in the oven?

    I would think very low heat would dry them out, better leave the husking to the squirrels.
