Oh my, she's gorgeous and she's actually GREY!!! I love her already!!!! Hazel There are many here that feed the Mazuri, I'll let others chime in on that since I only feed Henry's. The only thing I know is what I have read. You have to feed much more of the Tekland and Mazuri to measure up to the Henry's since the HHBs are made specifically for squirrels. I can only repeat info on that subject. I'm having good outcomes with the HHBs for sure!

And you said she feels really thin to you? She doesn't appear underweight in the photos but her fur is longer. I suppose that could make it deceiving. Have you seen the nutrition board?? WOW...SHE'S BEAUTIFUL!!! AT HER AGE SHE'S STILL GOT SOME GROWING TO DO, SO HER WEIGHT SEEMS OK ACCORDING TO THE SMITHSONIAN LINK YOU PROVIDED. YOU MIGHT CONSIDER ORDERING A BAG OF THE HENRY'S 'PICKY EATER' BLOCKS TO SEE HOW SHE TAKES TO THEM. JUST 2 OR 3 PER DAY (PROBABLY THREE AT HER SIZE) WILL ENSURE THAT SHE'S GETTING HER FULL NUTRITIONAL REQUIREMENTS WHICH IS A LOAD OFF YOUR MIND. AS FOR THE WATER, I'D KEEP GIVING IT UNTIL YOU SEE HER HIT THE WATER BOTTLE...JMO

I have great news. Yesterday I saw Hazelnut drinking from one of our water features and then again later from our dog pool. There was evidence of her using the bowl in her enclosure, too. Phew!

I would really like to get the Henry's, but they're so expensive. On the otherhand, one bag lasts a whole month.

She seems skinny to me because I can feel her ribs, but she is very active. I offer her the blocks... She'll eat one and refuse the next or bury it. I suppose if she were hungry she'd eat it.

I spoke to Leigh at Henry's and the Wild Bites have the same nutritional value as the picky blocks. If you look, they are considerably less expensive. In my opinion, the Picky Blocks are the way to go. If you feed 2 per day they last a whole month and provide total nutrition. You really can't put a price on that kind of nutrition!
And if you are going to feed them, order a couple of bags as the shipping is the same no matter how many you order.

This is the perfect solution!!! Hazel basically is a wild squirrel being out and about most of the day and that is probably why she's so skinny. These Wild Bites seem to be just the ticket. Hazel is over a pound, so once she's weaned from formula I'll probably have to give her 3 a day.

One thing is... Someone had mentioned that peanuts are not good for squirrels and that's the first ingredient. However, once she's on her own... that will be a main staple for her as our neighbours put out peanuts for the squirrels. Hazel has already discovered that.
