    Default dates

    can squirrels eat sun dates also known as deglet noor dates from california? they sell them at the grocery store and are dried. also my queen palms are growing green dates on them that i am waiting to ripen. are these safe for my squirrels?

    don't know about fresh dates, but any dried fruit is not recommended - too much concentrated sugar for a little squirrel body

    So in regards to your question Re: can squirrels eat dates from a palm.
    So first of all they can be given in moderation, and only moderation coupled with a balanced diet, so only as an occasional treat.
    However, you mentioned your Queen Palm… the green dates from a queen palm are much safer bcz they are LOWER in sugar content and a much safer choice. 😊

    The seeds of the Sago Palm are deadly to squirrels...just throwing this out there to be extra careful.
