Default Urgent! Need directions for trimming teeth.

My 5-year-old Foxer Georgie is not eating and has not been eating for a while. I thought it was just his yearly spring weight loss after being fat all winter but this has gone on too long and I'm afraid it's his teeth. We've tried every kind of good yummy food that a squirrel would want and he just looks at it and walks away. He rubs his face on stuff and spends a lot of time chewing on his wooden bridge but doesn't chew on his antlers which he normally loves. I looked at his teeth about a week ago and they looked okay but I guess they aren't okay. When he's out of the cage all he wants to do is curl up in a ball in my hands and sleep which is highly unusual. I've never trimmed his teeth and I'm scared to do it but I have to do it and I need directions so if anyone can point me to where the directions are on the Forum I would really appreciate it. I did a search but I didn't find what I was looking for. I would love to see directions with pictures for each step and what tool to use. Thank you so much please help!

No squirrel friendly vet and I'm in one of "those States". It's going to have to be me and my husband and in 5 years my husband has never been in the same room when Georgie is out of the cage. So having him as my helper/holder shall be interesting. I will check YouTube for videos, thank you.

We did it! We woke up early and went to Lowe's to buy a 5in wire cutter ( hardened steel, made in the USA). I burrito wrapped Georgie in a T-shirt then my husband came in and held him while I did the trimming. We put a pencil in his mouth to hold it open and it worked out great. He ate an orange slice with Precision afterwards. He was able to scrape the orange out of its skin and did great. I gave him the rest of his dinner early and so far he hasn't gotten to that but I'm sure he will or at least I hope he will. Thank you for your help.

Oh this is wonderful news. Great job! I'm sure being burrito-ed with only head out and a pencil in the mouth was surprising to Ms Georgie but now she knows the drill.

He's still being lethargic and sleeping. After he ate the orange slice, he went back to bed in his hammock. He didn't want to be out with me. I tried giving him his Henry's block and a blueberry but he turned up his nose at them. Didn't touch his carrot, cauliflower or sweet pea.
For several weeks, when I get him out, he just wants to sleep curled up in my hands which is highly unusual. He's normally very active. I guess I thought his lethargy would miraculously go away and he would start eating everything in sight after his teeth were shorter.🥺

Any possibility she is in pain for some reason ?? Maybe a fall in her cage ?? anything out of the ordinary ??

By chance, did you take any pictures before or after her teeth were trimmed ??

Important that she does not get dehydrated. Is she drinking anything ?? Peeing and/or pooing ??

I didn't think to take pictures before or after. He is peeing and pooping and he does drink fine. I don't know how he can poop as much as he does considering he's not eating well and barely at all. To my knowledge he hasn't hurt himself. He's fine with me petting him and rubbing his front legs which loves as well as the rest of his body. I'm at a complete loss. 😢

I spoke with Dave on the squirrel hotline and he believes it is MBD and he had me start Georgie on a Tums water regimen. I pray he starts eating.
