Hello, I’m currently looking for some help and ideas for a current situation I’m dealing with.

Recently I’ve been helping my friend take care of a baby squirrel found at a local park and wouldn’t leave us alone, I would say it’s approximately 10 weeks, he eats hard foods like nuts and fruits but struggles a little bit and prefers water through a syringe so we decided to get him formula. We have had him for 4 days now and we have noticed some odd changes, for one, he has become unbalanced-like and is falling over on one side every time he walks but continues to walk like that, but eventually he seems to just curl up in a ball with his eyes open and eventually fall asleep, which this seems concerning to us. We decided to investigate more and found a large abscess behind his ear that has a foul smell and this is the side he has been leaning towards every time he walks and falls over so maybe that could be the reason of his unbalance? not sure. but we did a warm compress and it immediately oozed out and left a large hole.

we cleaned it out best we could, but now we are concerned on how to keep it that way and raise the sweet baby back to health. The main issue is, yes, we immediately tried to find an exotic vet or a place that could help us figure out our problem, but we live in a very isolated area and the nearest vet for animals of the kind are over 6 hours. We are looking for ideas on how to somehow help him the best way possible with the issue of not being able to see a vet. Any advice is strongly appreciated! any remedies, medications, things we could possibly do at home are strongly needed. thank you.
