    Default Squirrel help!!

    Hello,

I have a squirrel who came right up to me I gave him water. It is a squirrel that does come by me but most of the time not close. Well today it came up to me and ate. But then kind of hobbled on one leg and went up in the tree to a nest area. It is laying up there any advice? No bumps or anything on this little one.

This is a full grown squirrel? If so, and there are no obvious "severe" injuries, probably the best thing to do is provide them with clean fresh water and healthy foods while they recuperate from any minor injuries. Capturing and treating a wild can be very stressful for the squirrel (and the person) so we only intervene when necessary. Providing food adn water close to their nesting areas means quick trips for good nourishment, less time being exposed while foraging and lots of extra rest to recover.

    Pictures are always helpful...

Thanks everyone for your help so far! The squirrel has not come out of the nest tree area at this time it is still up there. It appears to have moved positions will update.

The platform TSB uses does not host videos, it can be uploaded to a platform like Youtube or IMGUR etc. and a link placed here for folks to see it...

    Hi there -

How is your friend doing? Like others said, if the little one is eating/drinking and can get around fine, best to leave him/her be and monitor. If you see they may have a hard time moving around or struggling then maybe its best to consider capturing and folks her can help maybe with med dosing or what to do next.

    all the best
