This is our morning poop, which is how it usually is every morning. Still gets very soft after this passes, no watery diarrhea so far anymore, but still has the bad smell and mucus. Still eating and drinking. Still active and playing.
Hi HanksMom:
Those poops look healthy! What is Hank's weight today? Did you advance Hank's diet and what is he being given currently?
A couple of other questions;
1) are you storing the HHBs in the freezer and taking out ONLY the Blocks that Hank will be eating that day or maybe the next and if planning on using them the next day; keep them in the refrigerator until needed? HHBs do NOT have any preservatives and will spoil if left out and can still spoil even if kept in the refrigerator. They are best stored in the freezer until they are needed for feeding!
2) have you tried using other quality blocks beside the Mazuri Blocks. It may be worth considering the discontinuation of the Mazuri Blocks (at least temporarily) and trying a different Block to be be free-fed such as Teklad 2018. Mazuri has 23% protein and while this would ordinarily be fine for a young Squirrel, the higher protein content may play a part in the odor and/or the composition of these Blocks may have some bearing on the varying consistency of Hank's feces and their odor as well! Ordinarily, Mazuri is tolerated quite well but with these persistent stooling issues and in light of Hank's multiple courses of antibiotics and antiparasitic agents without apparent improvement; I would like to suggest a change in Blocks to see if there may be some resultant improvement! Teklad 2018 Blocks are available in large, relatively expensive bags from the manufacturer but I have been getting Teklad Blocks for a number of years from an eBay merchant named EcoSandy. She sells Teklad 2018 Blocks in smaller amounts and her prices are quite reasonable. Here is a link to EcoSandy's page on eBay for her Teklad 2018 Blocks if you might want to check that out;

Excuse me, I don't know how to publish a thread and I need help…
Nursing On genitals and diarrhea
Hello, I'm from Panama and I really don't know what to do because strangely in my country there are no specialists in wild animals when we are one of the countries with more wild animals. I found a squirrel on a road and it was very small without opening his eyes and barely filled with hair, I went to a local veterinarian and she told me to give him cat milk (KMR formula) and I gave it to him for about 3 and a half weeks, but he always had diarrhea which I thought was normal because of the change to formula. Then the squirrel had wounds on his penis and I started to investigate and it was that he was nurse On his genitals. Currently after going to another veterinarian and being able to find this page for squirrels, I inquired a few days ago before they accepted me to publish and I suspended the cat milk and bought Esbilac powder milk, administering it every 5 hours 14cc because I calculate that it is approximately 6 weeks old already has his eyes open, jumps and explores. I also sold his penis with a cotton and elastic adhesive straps that I change every time he urinates. The diarrhea worried me a lot because it was already a long time and his anus was already swollen and hurt from that; he still has diarrhea, but I don't know if I'm already on the right track. I don't know what else I should give him (water or pedialyte) because I feel guilty and that no "expert" knew how to guide me and I want him to live and be free.

He does eat those first thing. I was giving him one in the morning and his 2nd in the evening. He always eats those first thing and finishes them. I started doing the two in the morning as you suggested as well and give him his other food once the HHB is eaten. I did honestly wonder that myself in the beginning of all this at the end of Jan. Wondered if he had gotten a bad batch maybe. He has finished those and I got his new bag Monday of this week and he has started those. Once I get them, they go straight to the freezer.

Hi HanksMom:
I do feel that eliminating one food at a time and substituting another similar quality diet component may at least be potentially helpful. Sometimes certain foods are just not tolerated or a sensitivity develops after a period of uneventful regular use. I do believe it would be fair to see how Hank does with his new batch of HHBs before considering a trial of eliminating these from his diet at least for a short period with the intent being to observe Hank for improvements in his stooling. Eliminating the Mazuri Blocks for at least short period of time and substitute the Teklad 2018 would also be a worthwhile endeavor!
It sounds as if you are tempted to try another round of Toltrazuril from a different source and this seems IMNNVO, to also be worth doing if the smelly poops continue! The dosing protocol that I sent to you via PM would work just fine with the new preparation as it the same concentration. All that would need to be be changed would be to recalculate the dose based upon Hank's current weight! Of course, I would be glad to help you with the new calculations!

I have the Teklad 2018 on the way and took the Maurzi away! Still smelling and today it was extremely soft, as though it was trying to turn to a watery, but it didn’t so that’s a plus. He did have a few specks of blood in the stool. I used peroxide and it reacted with a little sizzle.
I have heard better reviews on the bearded dragon website and it’s also on the way, possibly Tuesday with new syringes in the size you recommended! I will message you when I get that on his weight!
OK! Has the odor and its intensity been the same for all of Hank's poops since all this began and along this same line; have all of Hank's poops been smelly? Since you have already discontinued the Mazuri Blocks (which is fine as if this seems to be the culprit or part of the problem; recognizing this as soon as possible would ideal); is Hank now getting his two HHBs and then some vegetables? I recently placed an order from EcoSandy a little over 1 month ago and it took about a week to receive it. That's been how it usually is. Especially without other free-fed Blocks, an option might be to add one additional HHB (total of three) each at least until until the Teklad Blocks arrive.

Yes, we’ve been dealing with smelly poop since the beginning. Sometimes it smells like death honestly. There was a day during the pancur treatment that it didn’t smell as bad and I thought we finally found our problem, but the smell returned a day later.
He gets two HHB a day and now we are doing his veggies for about a week now. Bok choy, romaine, two HHB’s, a carrot and sweet potato (in moderation and not together) no fruits for a treat, some parsley (which he doesn’t really eat in moderation as well)
It’s a blessing he’s still active and drinking water and eating, so I am honestly at a loss. My thoughts are, try the Toltrazuril when it gets here, or wait two weeks and do another round of Pancur? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated and I am so thankful for all the help!!!
Hi HanksMom:
I concur with you about considering another round of Toltrazuril. Again, you can consider giving Hank an additional HHB each day for a total of three until the Teklad Blocks arrive (This may be especially good strategy if Hank is a "messy" eater and is not completely consuming his two regular Henry's blocks!).

Hi HanksMom:
I did read your PM a short while ago when I had the opportunity to get back on TSB. Why in particular; do you have concerns about possibly ordering the wrong size? Is it because of the line on the label that states something like (unable to see what precedes)"0.04cc per 100 grams of" (unable to see what comes afterward)? I suspect that this has nothing to do with the concentration of the suspension but is a dosing suggestion for a particular animal. This bottle is apparently 5% Toltrazuril and that should be what is needed. Just to be certain, though; please post enough photos so that we can see what is written on the entire label. That being said, I do believe this will prove to be ok but, again, lets make certain!
