Two other types of territory marking I have also seen in females - When out for play time and running around near me, they go out of their way to run over my feet as they pass by. They just bounce on top of my foot then keep going. As they hit puberty and beyond, the females will also scent mark me by dragging their genitalia on me, usually on my arm.
That got me thinking.... Hamy tolerates my hubby. My hubby is more his playmate on Hamys terms... but when my hubby wants to leave the room Hamy jumps on his feet. He does bounce on his feet but then claws my hubbies feet... even when my hubby stops walking he still claws him... for my hubby to walk on he has to move the foot Hamy is not on... Hamy jumps from foot to foot till my hubby sits down again... Hamy then walks or jumps off and acts like nothing has happened...

I always laugh when someone asks "How do you get a squirrel to do X?" because it often seems that we are being trained by our squirrels at least as much as the other way around.

Presumably there is a website the thehumanboard.com or THB where squirrels discuss how to get their humans to behave and swap funny stories about us.

I'd love to read their section " Thinking of training that human yourself?"

Last time I checked, human rehabbers were called "wives." We'd be doomed without them.

Henry's blocks really do give Hamy all he needs to stay away from MBD - you are not feeding him anything that in enough quantity to upset the calcium/phosphorus that is critical for him. Mating season. Males. Marking. It is what it is - no way around it. Lots of marking = lots of water intake. Same as last year.

Our three kids are in season - Franky has obscenely large testicles - not just "man pillows," but more like a pair of furry beach balls. He's nipping. Jet is just insane with lust and he is lunging and biting. They are drinking noticeably more water. Ollie is just her normal sweet self - but the scents she is giving off are driving the boys insane. I mention this to remind you that you are not alone in your drama with Hamy. To quote William Jefferson Clinton, "I feel your pain!" Hang in there, this will pass.

I stopped the calcium balls already. Hamy loves the Henry's. He'd eat a bag a day if he could get away with it...
You're right I can see a patern in Hamys behaviour. Now I just need to get out of my panic mode.
Sounds like plenty of action at yours with your kids. I don't know how you all do it... I got my hands full with just one wee dude...
Hamy just woke up.... it's breakfast time... by the way you should see his nest... he shoved about 100 napkins in it... he barely fits in now... he has to squeeze in so his tail fits in the box with him

I love when I've got two or three babies in one fabric cube and there's always a tail sticking out of the rear entrance.

Oh I wished I could see that
Hamy doesn't like the fabric cubes. He only likes the wooden ones. We just got him a new one. I attach images. Well, the one we bought last year as Hamy came to our lives is completly beaten up. Hamy altered it to his gusto right in the beginning. He was busy for about 2 months redesigning the roof as well as the entrances. Since the old one looks a bit worn down we bought him a new one in August... we hung it up in his recreation area. So far he very seldom sits on it. Instead of trying out the new house he filled a hanging planter with napkins and a pillow protector...yes a pillow protector... as I was changing our bedding Hamy nicked it. He seriously dragged the whole thing across the floor... he even tried to get it up to his planter. Off course I had to help him... partners in crime. Hamy uses the hanging basket as his summer nest. He takes his naps in it when he's out of his cage. Hamy is defo a character. He comes up with the wildest stunts.
It mixed up the order of the images...
1st image is the hanging basket and in the background the new house
2nd is the new house from the front
3rd is Hamy and his old house stuffed to the max with napkins
4th is the new house from the side
