I know of several rehabbers in your area if you would like to give the baby to one of them. Caring for and seeing a baby through to release at 16+ weeks old is a very time consuming and expensive endeavor. You have to be truly committed financially as the baby deserves its best chance for survival and reintroduction to the wild.

Thanks for posting on the older squirrel.

So what is your plan for this squirrel ?? Should be about 16 weeks old.

PS: Stop the corn feeding and instead start rodent blocks to keep MBD away. In older squirrels who are captive, the food diet is most important for their live. You can read all about MBD on TSB board and you will learn how important it is to prevent.

Good to know - Thank you! Since its a wild, MBD is much less of a risk. You still can offer rodent blocks to boost calcium intake.

You can order the Henry’s blocks from HenrysPets.com. The hazelnut and picky eater blocks are well liked.

Did you provide a rodent block for your older squirrel when you were raising it? It’s recommended that a rodent block be given starting when their eyes open at 5-6 weeks. After they are eating the rodent block well then vegetables and limited fruits are offered.

Here’s the link for the healthy diet for squirrels. https://thesquirrelboard.com/forums/...-Pet-Squirrels

She should gain gradually. You don’t want to feed too much and cause bloat. The milk line on her belly should almost disappear by the next feeding time. How often are you feeding? Are you sticking to the 5-7% of her daily weight at each feeding?

She's still skinny, so let's continue the every 3 hours and if you see that she looks dehydrated in between, add a hydration feeding in between meals. She should hopefully gain 5-7grams per day, but it may take her a few days to get there.
