Default New Baby Squirrel Found! Need advice on raising him!

Hello all! Recently while out doing work found 4 baby squirrel that had fallen out of their nest. Momma was nowhere to be found. 3 of the 4 were dead and getting eaten by ants. Last 1 was ALIVE! and I saved him from the ants that were on him. Took him home. Immediately got a small bottle with nipple and puppy esbilac from pet store. First week was pretty good. He was about in-between the 3-4 week mark for age. He now has his bottom teeth all the way in but while they were coming in He wasn't very good at eating. Now he's lost about 3 grams of weight and starting to get skinny. I ordered a better syringe with a nipple attachment and some 20/50 fox formula. Any advice would be great. Couldn't find any rehabers in my area. He is a Missouri Grey Squirrel. At 4 weeks he should be getting about 4 feeding per day right? He weighs 39 grams so around 2.70ml per feeding? Should I be offering him some warm sugar water before every feeding to get his weight back up? Just need some sound advice. I want to save him very bad. He survived falling out of that giant tree for a reason.

I live in MO as well and just took my 8 month old squirrel to the Lakeside Nature Center in KC. When I found her she was the only living baby and was about 3 1/2 weeks old. The advice i got here was to go online to Henry's Pets site and follow the feeding protocol they post on there. They also have information on how often to feed them etc.
I bought the special nipples to use on the syringes and the milk replacement powder recommended. It may be the same as what you are using. I never gave her sugar water except in the beginning when she seemed dehydrated. I kept a heating pad under the box I had her in and used a floor steamer removable mop thing that had a thick soft covering and turned it inside out so the soft part was inside. It made like a big pocket and I put her inside of it so she would stay warm. The heating pad under the box provided enough heat to warm the "nest". I know there is a feeding schedule but I fed her when she was hungry making sure not to give her more than the recommended amount, although I may or may not have given extra a few times when she seemed really hungry 😇
She thrived using the formula. I mixed it up, put it in a small glass bowl and warmed it just a bit because she wouldn't drink it cold. I am not sure if this helps you or not but I wanted to try anyway. If your baby is not thriving you may want to contact someplace like the Nature Center in KC ( 816- 513- 8960) where they have access to licensed rehabbers who can address any medical issues and may have access to vets. I am so grateful I never needed a vet because NO ONE around Webster County treated native animals!
Of course this forum is an excellent resource if you plan on trying to raise her yourself. I pray yours will begin eating better soon. I am wondering how often you give her water? Maybe that fills her up and she eats less. I may have misunderstood that part

Thank you! That's alot of helpful info at the Henry website. Yes I have the heating pad on him and nesting material. I've got the 20/50 fox formula today so hopefully that gets him back on track.

Thank you so much! You are my hero 3 times over - (1) to raise your baby squirrel to 8 months, (2) to bring to a nature center, and (3) jump to help someone! Squirrel Gods will bring you good luck.

I wish you the best. Thank you again!
