Oral surgeon recommendations needed

Hi all,

I live in the Fort Lauderdale, FL area and am caring for a wonderful 14-month old boy we rescued at a week old. His vet says his two lower teeth need to be extracted due to odontoma but he's not equipped to perform the procedure. He's been getting a recurring abscess on his jaw and is being treated with Baytril until we can get a surgeon's opinion.

Does anyone have recommendations for a vet that is experienced in this area? We're willing to travel outside of the South Florida area, if necessary, to make sure he gets the care he needs. We contacted Dr. Emerson at Ravenwood Veterinary but she is no longer there and Dr. Kelleher at Broward Avian and exotics won't see squirrels without a permit (even though it's not required in FL).

Any recommendations and guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I am so sorry, Dr Emerson has been my vet since 2008.
Hopefully others here will have some insight.

I am asking a friend who has vet connections. I will post if I find out anything.

In the meantime, do an internet search at www.avdc-dms.org and call some of the vets listed within FL and see if they treat squirrels and are familiar with the procedure. There is a squirrel friendly vet in Orlando, Dr. Diaz 407-286-3484 you can also try.
