Default My 5 week old baby I got yesterday (unexpectedly) has AP dosing help!

Hi! I have baytril on its way but won’t be here within 1-2 days and I’m in a pickle. I’m getting antibiotics (500mg amoxicillin) from my sister who has some left over. I am in contact with a vet online but nobody around will take in or help with her because they are all too full. I have rehabbed and released two others successfully so this isn’t new to me but AP is. I want to get this out quick so I can try to help her and maybe have someone aware of the situation and able to help as I’m on my way to get the medication. She was a finder feed by a family member (hence the AP) but also super emaciated and skinny and weak. Found under a trash can with a deceased sibling /: I’m doing everything I can to save this baby but I can’t wait for these meds overnight. She is 5 weeks I believe (one eye is starting to open still no upper teeth only bottoms and has hair) but literally only 69 grams. She needs help. I’m rehydrating with a honey and water solution and started giving esbilac this am after 24 hours of rehydrating.

It’s weird I swear she had that breathing issue but then it went away and she’s breathing normal but still weak but moving more now than she was. Maybe she is hypoglycemic? I dont know thoughts?

Just went and checked yet again. She will breathe normal then start to do a random hiccup looking thing every so often and then I moved her around a bit and she stopped.

I sent you dosing info for the amoxicillin if you should decide you need it.

The first signs of A/P is not clicking - that is one of the much later signs. First you will see lethargy (more than normal) and a sudden refusal to eat enough or even anything. If you see lethargy and food refusal I would begin medicating regardless of whether the clicking is intermittent or constant, especially given the shaky condition the baby is in.

She looked like she was gasping for air and mouth breathing but it seems like it’s getting better. It’s still alarming how emaciated she is considering I have been giving her hydrating solution every 30 minutes to an hour. I can’t get her to take any puppy formula so I’m going to make her the home made formula and give it to her every so often. Hopefully she will take it and perk up with the Amox. She’s basically on and off mouth breathing/gasping.

I am having the same issue with a baby flyer I am trying to help. I think she is aspirated. She is lethargic and ate half of her formula. I want to start meds as soon as possible to give her the best chance. Posted in the emergency life threatening section with no response yet for dosing. Can anyone help me?
