Self Mutilation

Ideas on how to get this little boy from chewing on his "goods". He's an adult squirrel, in my care for about 8 months now. He was head/spinal trauma intake. He was and still is on gabapentin. I've already increased dosage and times to see if that would help as possible feeling returning to his lower half. He has use of his lower half, but isn't capable of sitting on his haunches or jumping at this point. He can climb. I've tried diapers, vests, a version of the "cone of shame", A&D ointment, prep H gel and vet wrap. He is going to the vet on Monday for a stronger cone of shame. Any ideas in the meantime?

May I suggest that you speak to the doctor about neutering him? It could perhaps solve this permanently. See if the doctor can use INTERNAL stitches.

The thought has crossed my mind for sure. I just hate the idea of having to put him under. But if nothing else works, that may hopefully solve everything.
