    Default lacing nuts with capstar?

    hello hello

fleas are back in season i tried to get ahead of it by dosing our squirrels with revolution but i must’ve been too late. muchi and a few other squirrels have some adult fleas crawling all over their genitals UGH. i’m worried about the new babies getting fleas so i’ve been looking at capstar and want to dose the adults that i see have fleas on them. question is — how do you give capstar to wilds?

i have the 11.4 mg tablets and from what i understand we crush a quarter of that and dilute in water. how much water? can i soak a few nuts with it and give it to a wild squirrel? or is there a way to make a paste with it?

muchi is comfy around us so i’m not worried about giving her the capstar orally through a drink. but the other weary squirrels i have no idea how to dose. do i trap them?

Instead of diluting it in water, dilute it with peanut butter. Crush the amount you would normally give into powder, mix with peanut butter, and either roll in a ball and try feeding that way, or perhaps gluing it down to a pecan piece...

Capstar is very fast acting and will nock existing fleas down but the effects do not last long at all. Are you trying to kill off the existing fleas and using the revolution for flea control after that?

yes exactly! capstar to kill off existing adult fleas and revolution to prevent. i bought the capstar for muchi’s fleas but as you know muchi passed away

we found her babies in our soffit and they were covered in fleas too. then as we rescued the babies i’m sure we accidentally brought fleas into our home. needless to say, we have a flea problem haha

can you give capstar to squirrels if they don’t have fleas? it’s hard to confirm on the black squirrels. they’re really itchy but i can’t see the fleas against their black fur. if i give them a capstar peanut butter ball when they don’t have adult fleas, will they be harmed?

do i offer laced revolution nuts straight after the capstar or do i wait?

Capstar is extremely safe. It only is effective for about a day. It is not in any way a preventive and if they return to an infested nest they will get covered up again.

I would use an abundance of caution and give 48 hours between capstar and the Revolution dose. Revolution is dosed every 30 days.

that makes sense! what about squirrels that i’ve already given revolution to? should i wait 48 hours too?

I would not give Capstar to a squirrel that has been dosed with Revolution.

Capstar lasts for about a day in the body, so after 48 hours it is like they haven't taken anything.

Revolution lasts for 30 days, so you would be giving two meds simultaneously and I have no idea how they "play" together.
