    Default spooked or what?

I have an almost 2 year old female eastern grey squirrel. Her diet consists of at least 2 henry’s hazelnut block, greens (kale, collards, bok choy), cucumbers, broccoli, tomatoes, oranges, blueberries, grapes (fed occasionally) and she still drinks milk (fox valley). I have had her since she was days old. Now granted squirrels get “spooked” easily, she was never one to be jumpy all the time, getting low to the ground and being afraid of everything until 3 days ago! Now she won’t even go into the nest she made! She’s real jumpy, she has been shaking as if she’s had the daylights scared right up on out of her! I don’t understand why she’s acting like this. She’s way more lovey too. Does anyone have any experience with this type of behavior that can add some insight to my situation? I love my little girl and I want her to be okay and this has me a bit nervous!

    Thanks in advance

Are there other creatures in the house? Does she have access to looking out a window? I believe there was another post about a similar scenario. It’s possible she saw or smelled a predator that has spooked her. Maybe try pulling her bedding out to be sure nothing has invaded it and wash or replace it. You could also put one of your old shirts or something that has your familiar scent in the cage with her.

    It also is mating season.

Do you have an attic? Something living up there like a raccoon would scare the heck out of her and you likely wouldn't hear a thing.
