13 week squirrel dark urine or blood in urine

I rescued a squirrel baby at 4 weeks ... followed recommendations with formula, introducing solids, etc. In the last week, there are a couple of instances where it looks like there is very dark urine - red. But then there is light colored too. He has tons of energy and isn't acting sick. Any ideas what this could be? Thanks so much!

What is he eating? Food will dramatically change pee color. Has he had any acorns?

Yes he had acorns today. He's been eating sweet pots, apples, avocado, filberts, walnuts, almonds, and still on fox valley. He won't eat henry's healthy blocks. Will acorns do it?

Yes the tannins in acorns will definitely color their urine from a dark yellow to blood red. Make sure he's well hydrated and maybe don't give him acorns for a week and see if it doesn't happen again..

When I use to give acorns which was many moons ago as I won't give them anymore, the pee looks like blood 😱
Too many issues with acorns it's just not worth it 🤷
