Exclamation Sharpie Markers -- Toxic if ingested?

Hello -- my little girl takes great interest in all the things I seem to be "playing with," including makeup, writing instruments, etc.
This morning she got ahold of a sharpie left out by someone in the room. She successfully got the cap off and bit the head of the marker off.

I know Sharpies are non-toxic to humans and animals, but better safe than sorry. I couldn't find more information in whether they mean the odor and the ink is non-toxic, and whether that changes for the bullet tip and actually ingesting the contents of the marker ink.

    Does anyone know?

Looks like some of the tip is still attached to the marker, and part of the missing chunk I was able to recover from the floor. It's possible she ate a very small piece of it.

Glad to hear that most of the tip has not been ingested.......a near miss! The tip is saturated with ink but more important its polyester/nylon material for durability but not easily digested and could lead to a blockage. Sounds like most of the tip is still on sharpie or the floor. Whew!

Unfortunately, sharpie ink is quite permanent so maybe your little girl now has lipstick on ?? Hope its a good color ??

My overwinter squirrel did the same thing last year. It made a mess but she was fine!
