Unhappy Need Vet in Maryland (ASAP)

Does anyone have a list of vets in the DMV area? Unfortunately, my little man broke his upper incisors a couple months ago and they are not growing back. Trimming the bottoms do not seem to help.

Now, my little man has been rubbing his face and I'm fearing the worst. Any help with be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, most vets in Maryland will not treat wild animals unless you are licensed or will confiscate NR wildlife. Can you post up a photo of his teeth? How old is your little one? Is there any growth at all?

I was afraid you were going to say that.

It was recommended that I reach out to Frisky's, but personally, I am terrified of reaching out to a rehabber. I need to know 100% that it will not turn into a surrender situation.

Little man is 6 years old and currently has no growth on his uppers.

Is he a Foxer? If he has Odontomas, there is not a lot that can be done. At the very least, an X-ray would reveal if there are odontomas and how large they are. Surgery can remove the odontomas but the surgery is fairly invasive, costly and has some risk. If the squirrel is really old, the surgery may be too risky to try. At 6, this squirrel has had a long life by wild standards and would be middle aged for a NR. In the meantime, continue to keep the lower incisors trimmed and watch for any signs of infection in the upper jaw area (swelling, redness, discharge). Check your PMs for addition advice.

My vet will see him but I’m in Richmond VA. I’m licensed so officially he would be under my name but he’s yours!!!

    Chicken,

I'm definitely willing to travel if it means my little man gets the help he needs!
