    Default We need advice please!

Hi! Me and my mom rescued 4 squirrels, pinkies, about a week old almost 2 weeks ago and a lady at the pet store told us she used kitten formula when she had squirrels so that’s what we got but with further researching we’ve realized that that’s not the best think for them so we’re wanting to transition to goats milk for now until we eventually get the fox valley formula but we just want to know how to transition them to that without harming them since they’ve been on kitten formula for a while now, is this something we’re able to do?

If it's going to be a while until you get your Fox valley and I mean more than three or four days,. Then you should have both the kitten formula and the goat's milk formula made up on hand. The first day feed them 75% kitten formula with 25% goat's milk added. The second day do 50/50 and the third day 75% goat's milk 25% kitten formula. By the fourth day they should have none of that yucky KMR which is really not good for squirrels as you know.

HOWEVER..... IF IT'S ONLY GOING TO BE A COUPLE OF DAYS BEFORE YOU GET THE FOX VALLEY I WOULD NOT EVEN BOTHER WITH THE TRANSITION TO GOAT'S MILK. Wait until you have the Fox valley and then transition them exactly the way I described above.

Thank you! This helps, a lot we added a tiny bit of the goats milk with the kitten formula and already they were drinking it really good, I doubt that means anything but it’s an observation, we probably won’t be ordering the fox valley for at least a couple days and we just really want to get them off of it soon

  8. Serious fuzzy thank you's to 3littlesquirrels from:

Can you post a picture of them?

What are implement are you using to find them? [A slip tip (This means it doesn't have the means of attaching a needle.) one CC (ml) syringe is the best choice for baby squirrels.]

The video linked below has a lot of good tips for feeding baby squirrels. It is always easiest to avoid problems rather than try to fix them and some squirrel problems can progress very quickly.
