    Default Swollen, maybe broken toe

    Hey guys! So the baby boy i had posted about before is doing great, now about 5-6 months old. We decided to name him Harley. He has Maple's old baby cage, but after this incident we have a new, bigger cage ordered tailored to squirrels. Harleys toe got caught in the cage with a pinch point I thought I had baby proofed. Apparently the stubborn boy decided he did not like its Aesthetic and chewed it off. Well, now his toe has been swollen for about 3 days now and I'm concerned its broken. His behavior hasn't changed, eating, energy, he doesn't seem to notice it until I go to look at it. I have him a vet appointment on January 5th, but I'm concerned because the swelling hasn't gone down. I do know I can give him liquid baby ibprophin for pain, but I haven't because he hasn't been in pain and I don't want to drug him up. I do have a picture. I apologize for his dirty feet, I just cleaned his cage but am learning that boys are so so dirty compared to girls! Arg! Lol anyway any advice or knowledge would be helpful. I'm trying not to helicopter mom but his toe! His new cage will get here before the 5th, so that's good. Help?

    I see you already have a vet appt. Please take a close up of the effected area to post here, as the rehabbers may recommend supportive treatment in the meantime.

    Perhaps if your scheduled appt. isn't with Dr. Emerson, a vet that has much experience with addressing both injuries and other conditions common to tree Squirrels;

    you might be able to get her seen and treated sooner. Though the clinic is presently closed for the holiday, you can leave a message with request for an appt.

    Their phone number is noted on this page: https://www.facebook.com/RavenwoodVet/

    In the meantime,
