Red face Hi, new member from India

    Greetings!

Nastychipmunk from India here, recently on 25th of last month (september, 2022) i found this little fella roaming around my workplace. It was probably a 3-4 weeks old kit of Northern Palm Squirrel (scientific name - Funambulus pennantii, wikipedia article here).

As there was a potential danger of stray cats-dogs-crows etc i had to pick him up and take care while trying to search for his mother or nest, but sadly after vigorously searching at every potential place and even some trees around i saw no sign of his mother squirrel or a nest anywhere so brought it at home; and since then he is growing up with us.

We had a small kitchen scale and measuring his weight on first day it was some 14.5 grams barely. Now after about a month he's weighing as 44 grams, sharp rise of good 30 some grams!

In starting days we used to feed him with diluted milk using a small dropper and syringe, after some days he started ignoring milk from syringe so we tried to feed him many things but found out he liked the coconut most, among other small sweet things like dried grapes and so, and further in some days he started eating stuffs like peanuts, small pieces of fruits (banana, papaya), fresh green beans and pods and pieces of other vegetables. So far we're happy to see him growing up nicely.

This is him now, pic was taken just yesterday evening. He's eating a peanut here, and on side you could see some crumbs of other stuff he was eating before.

I shall keep you updated about him. We plan to release him in wild once he grows up to maturity.

I found this site: http://rehabbersden.org/index.php/36...-revised-contd while looking for info on these cuties and passed it on to someone who contacted the people behind the website - and told me they were extremely helpful.
