Tick Guide for Mississippi

There are many southern States that share the same tick species populations.
That is why when finding this handy tick guide I thought to post it for reference
towards identifying and learning more about ticks and the diseases that they
are known to carry.

Yah, there is that! You should see the ones they have at Depot, they were huge, Halloween cutouts that is. Though the round variety are fairly easy to spot on a squirrel, the spider species which are very tiny are very hard to spot, save they are engorged with blood. Once I was bitten by a Dog tick in my own front yard; I found it in my clothing gorged with my blood, or what I assumed the was. I was sent to a CDC specialist who found the telltale red ring on my skin near where I found the tick. Thankfully, it wasn't carrying Lyme and other tick borne diseases Thankfully, I didn't have to have the more invasive test of checking my spinal fluid.

Keep in mind that not all ticks are those that squirrels could have; because they are species specific.
