    Exclamation Worried about diarrhea

. Guys I don't know what to do my 7 week old squirrel won't eat the blocks I just got them delivered today and she is not interested in them. She was on formula and some fruit since I found her a week ago I know that's the best food for her to give her the blocks that's why I got them but now idk what to do. I gave her some apple pieces which she did eat and some broccoli. Her poop in the afternoon at around 12ish was really soft but still held together, right now she pooped again on my hand and it was almost runny and sticky I want to believe that's diarrhea and I want to know what to do to stop it!! I don't want anything bad happening to her I've gotten attached to her and I just want her to be healthy. Please help

So, the first thing to remember is that at 7 weeks old, she would ONLY be eating mama's milk - squirrels don't carry food to the nest for the babies - they are on milk until they begin to leave the nest and venture down to the ground, at about 9 weeks. And even then they continue to nurse. So at 7 weeks, what you should be doing is continuing to give the formula at the appropriate amount and schedule for her age, and give her BLOCKS ONLY - no fruit, not veggies, nothing else, and not at this age so much to eat and use to sustain her. At this point it is more to give them a chance to stumble on this new thing, to tear it up and try some which she will do eventually. Cut them in pieces - they are expensive - and discard what she doesn't eat at the end of the day. She will get curious eventually and start eating more and more of the blocks and less and less formula. But the exact timing of that will be up to her.

So for now, you want to give her additional hydration to keep the runny poop from dehydrating her. If it continues, you can give her a couple drops of pepto bismol liquid. It will turn her poops dark so don't be alarmed at that.

Is there something else I can give her if I don't have peptobismol at the moment? Is not 100% liquid when she poops but is extremely extremely soft and leaves a trail on my hands and is wet. The days before it was soft but firm, the poop held itself together not like it is now and I'm just so so worried. I literally cried for almost an hr because I don't want anything bad happening to her and I would blame myself for it if something does happen to her after imagining her growing up and becoming a full adult squirrel. I tried to give her water but she's not interested in it, she got 1 drop ans that's it. Since a week ago when I got her she's only tried formula and not just plain water. I'm so concerned right now I want to keep her healthy

This is the blocks that I got her but Now I don't know if I should keep trying to feed her these or just get the ones from Henry's brand which seem to be softer

She would be much better off with the Henrys - and I can guarantee she will like them better. The Hazelnut and the Picky blocs seem to be the favorites.

She can have a couple drops of Kaopectate as well. They can take immodium but I would want a weight on her to dose that.

You can add a drop or two of honey or a pinch of sugar to the water to make her want to drink it - also, offer it warm like formula.

Just ordered her exactly those the ones for picky eaters. Henry brand seems to be a lot softer and from what I read is most squirrel's fav food blocks. They should be getting delivered by this Tuesday on 9/13/22. Is there anything I can give her in the meantime while they arrive? because she's definitely not interested in those other blocks and I don't want her to get sick from not eating enough. I'm also scared to keep giving her formula because I don't want her mild diarrhea to get worse.
Also btw I got her the Dia-stat just in case this happens again, I will be getting her peptobismol tomorrow after work and give it to her right away and hope it helps her a bit.
She just popped again right now and is a little more firm now. Not so mushy and messy and kinda runny but still very very soft

This is what is looking like right now at 11:10pm after that messy runny poop she had at around 6:00ish

You have to keep feeding her formula, she’s way too young to be weaned. Even once you get the Henry’s blocks she won’t immediately consume enough of them to sustain herself. Most squirrels continue with formula till they are 10-12 weeks old. We let them decide when they want to wean.

What brand of formula are you feeding?

Keep the pepto around but those poops are nearly normal so she doesn't need it now. Mel is right - she needs to eat her fill of formula and have the blocks to just investigate and nibble now.

Good news her pooped went back to normal (sorry if it's gross) and she had her formula today. She's so energetic and happy as always, I was so afraid something could happen to her.

This was her poop today in the morning and the other picture was taken about 30 mins ago

Thank you for the help I really appreciate it
