I need some advice. I have rehabbed several squirrels in the last year but none of the other babies had urine that smelled so strongly of ammonia like this, even when they were dehydrated and I had to rehydrate them before feeding. I just got her Thursday (it’s Sunday night). She looks skinny for her age and I think she is about 5-6wks old. I can feel her spine and ribs and her face is hollow looking. She has only gained a gram in the four days I’ve had her. She is 122grams in weight and she sometimes doesn’t feed very wellfeeding. The easiest time to feed her is first thing in the morning when she eats about 7mls. At night she hardly eats at all. She isn’t lethargic, yet.
Should I get her started on Bactrim or should I wait and see? We don’t have any good wildlife vets in our area. Any advice would be helpful. I don’t want to wait until she gets really sick to act. She is already so thin. Thanks!
