I found a squirrel sanctuary that is a little ways away, but they put me into contact with someone closer. Fingers crossed I can get her the help she needs! The sanctuary said that chipped teeth are a concern and she is closer to 12 weeks at that weight. My girlfriend and I were just discussing something: If she hadn't fallen, wouldn't she have been learning to survive in the wild without my intervention? Why can't she just be released? I'm not going to hard release her right now or anything, it's just a genuine question that's causing us a little confusion.

Pictures or her teeth would be terrific if at all possible.

Dusk is NOT a good time to release her at all. At 12 weeks she'd still be with mom. We don't start the release process, which takes several weeks, until they are at least 14 weeks and usually 16 weeks. AT this age she should only be released in the area she was found... preferably with mom. Any chance you can put her in a cage in that area and see if mom comes? It may require several hours.

Should I do that in the morning? It's currently 6PM here. I talked with a wildlife rescue person who is out of town who said at this age I can put oats, walnuts, and water in her cage with some branches for her to climb on and keep an eye on her intake and weight and if she's eating and moving fine over the next couple days then bring her back to the tree I found her at early in the morning to release her.

Edit: I've been making phone calls all day long and it seems like there aren't any rehabbers in my area that will take her. This advice was the only shot I've gotten today.

I FOUND SOMEONE TO TAKE HER!

They said they can take care of her for the next few weeks and give her back for me to rerelease her back into this area!

Just a little update for anyone who is curious: I took her to a beautiful wildlife reserve this morning where I know she's going to get the top-notch care she deserves Thanks to everyone for all your help!
