I also want to see if I can find one of the antibiotics suggested so I can keep that in mind as well.

I'm really hoping it's just heat related and nothing more serious, I did notice the other day she was grooming a lot too which makes me wonder even more? I definitely want to be sure this isn't Pyometra though! If it is an infection, I'm assuming it would likely get worse and make her start to act sick, is that correct?
Oh yes. It is a systemic infection of the reproductive system and the area fills with pus. Basically, the cervix normally is tightly closed and prevents bacteria from entering the uterus. But when the animal is in estrus, the cervix relaxes and opens to allow to entry of the sperm and resulting egg implantation. At the same time, the body reduces the number of white blood cells which normally fight against bacteria, because they will also kill any implanted eggs. It is sort of a perfect storm - cervix open to allow bacteria and no bacteria killers to deal with it. Besides not producing multiple litters, it is a big reason vets suggest spaying, because none of that happens without a uterus. The animals will die of sepsis without surgical intervention, which consists of a spay surgery. No eating and happy and grooming, believe me. Do keep us posted though. This is how we learn stuff like this. I am glad to hear that she is dong well.

As you can see, another person asked exactly the same question - spring coming, females, same symptoms - I *think* this is probably normal.

I will definitely keep all of you updated! She's still fine and was having a good time tackling one of her big stuffed animals last night haha.
