Default 8 week old male squirrel not acting normal

I have two baby squirrels that I rescued 3 weeks ago (mom was killed by dog) Bonnie, the female, is very active and doing well. Clyde, the male was rescued 4 days after moms death and has always been behind in eating and playing. Today he has been sitting by himself not moving around much, his poop is a little loose, not watery just loose. Can anyone tell me if something might be going on with him? Is he stressed or sick? Should he be moved out of the cage with his energetic sister? Thanks for any input.

He might be sick. I know this question will seem odd but what are you feeding them?

Feeding him Fox Valley 20/50 squirrel formula, food blocks a few broccoli stems.

When we found him he did have some bleeding from his nose, he has been slightly off balance at times and has never been as energetic as his sister he loves to bury in his blanket and sleep. I’m not sure if has a mild Neurological problem due to his fall from the nest which was at least a 20 foot drop or maybe has a vision issue.

Thumbs up on the diet. Thanks for doing your research. I just wanted to rule out the diet as a cause.

I’m not sure what the problem is but I would monitor him closely. If the heathy sister is trampling him I would probably separate for a short time. Hopefully it wouldn’t be too long as sometimes if separated too long they act like they have never seen each other before and will reject each other.

Watch him for signs of seizures. I hope he doesn’t have neurological problems that are manifesting symptoms now. I guess he’s still taking his formula like usual. ? Make sure the amount is the appropriate amount. Overfeeding can cause issues. I really don’t know what’s going on.

Thank you so much for your help! He is eating around 11 to 12 ccs of formula at each feeding, he appears healthy or what I perceive to be healthy his eyes are clear, he has an appetite for his formula and eats chews on his food block, he nibbles the broccoli stems but doesn’t act crazy about it. We will continue monitoring him and will post if something else should go on with him. Thank you again so much!

I did think about one thing. Make sure the sister isn’t bullying him. Sometimes an alpha critter will be mean to a more submissive sibling. We have even seen them starve others in the release cage by incessant bullying. They retreat to a nest box and won’t come out. I’m sure you would notice that though.

Now I have seen her taking food away from him so that may be an issue. I have not seen her attack him or anything just take a piece of food from him. I will be watching really closely now.
