Is there anything I can do to help? I had 2 baby squirrels and one didn’t make it. I’m trying to save the last one.

I'm assuming your "5-10 year old" is an error??
Anti biotics are the only thing that can help with pneumonia, depending on Ab human meds can be used.
Check what you can come up with and we can tell you if it can be used and how to dose.
We will need a weight on baby to dose meds and type plus ml/mg of med asked to be dosed.
You will need a 1cc syringe for dosing.

We have Doxycycline and Amoxicillin capsules. He weighs 0.7 ounces.
The amoxicillin is 500mg capsules and the doxycycline is 100mg
You will need to treat with Antibiotics. Check the cabinets, call family and friends, ask neighbors. You will need only 1 pill to treat the baby.
Some of the more effective antibiotics are Augmentin (animal version is Clavamox), Cipro (animal version is Baytril), Bactrim / Septra (SMZ/TMP).
If you find any antibiotics at all, post the name here and the weight of the squirrel and someone will advise if the antibiotic would be effective and on dosing.
Edit: I merged the multiple threads, Ugh.
No I don’t believe it’s expired, it’s a recent bottle. And no I can’t find that ingredient listed anywhere.
The expiration date is not present on the bottle, after “Exp:” it’s empty. It was administered on 4-07-21 for a dog. We will call a family member and check for more antibiotics they may have.
She doesn’t have any antibiotics. Should I give him pedialyte in the meantime?
Ok, this makes me confident enough this is still okay to use that I am going to send the doxycycline dosing. Doxy works for AP, but it is slow to work so keep trying to find augmentin (clavamox = animal version), Cipro (animal version is Baytril) or Bactrim / Septra (SMZ/TMP).
Doxycycline dosing sent in a Private Message (PM).
Let us know if there are any questions...
Hydration is always good, but pedialyte has a lot of salt for a baby squirrel. If he is not dehydrated, use plain water or water with just a bit of molasses or honey added.

What should I do if he’s not swallowing? The antibiotics or his food?
Is he warm? Never given anything by mouth to a cool (or cold) baby squirrel.
If warm, the medication... hopefully it is not too late.
If he is dehydrated, hydration fluid. If hydrated, formula.... never feed a dehydrated baby formula.

I’ve been keeping him warm constantly. Ever since I tried to give him medicine he started to breathe out of his mouth. Is there anything i can do for him?
