    Default White pupil?

My NR squirrel has white patches covering his pupils from birth, as far as I know. Recently one detached and slipped down inside his eye. Is this anything I need to worry about? He is not showing any signs of it bothering him.

I’m not sure why your baby would have developed this white pupil. I have seen it once in a wild and it was temporary, so my guess it was due to injury. I have also heard of it developing from poor nutrition. Do you feed your little one a rodent block?

It is my understanding that squirrels do not have a central focus point like human do. They have an impressive 270 degree field of view. So this squirrel should be getting vision from parts of the eye that are not white.

Has the white spot grown, shrunk, or stayed the same since you have had the squirrel in your care?

Sounds like the patch slipping down inside the eye represents an improvement. Did it dissolve? That is what I would guess.

How long have you been taking care of this squirrel?

How is his movement? Does he jump, run and leap about?
