Question 5-6 Wk Squirrel Lethargic, Large Belly

Not sure if he's constipated, or what. He doesn't want to eat, which is weird for him. His poops are black and kind of hard, I'm assuming he's dehydrated. No pedialyte... He accepted a substitute. I got the recipe here. He's still crawling around and kind of active, but sometimes he lays down and looks really sad. I've been rubbing his belly, and keeping him warm and comfortable. Really worried about him. Any tips?

Can you post a picture? What formula is he eating? He could be bloated which is life threatening if not dealt with. If it’s bloat you will need some infant Gas X to give him to help relieve the pressure in his belly. Are you continuing with hydration? If you’re using the homemade hydration recipe, I’d eliminate the salt and just offer slightly sweetened water. Hydration should help with bowel movements if constipation is the problem. You can also try holding him in some warm water up to his armpits while gently massaging his belly in a downward motion. Keep him warm afterwards till he’s dry.

  3. Serious fuzzy thank you's to Mel1959 from:
