    Exclamation BABY SQUIRREL CONSTIPATION

Hi, I’m probably just over concerned about my baby squirrel. She’s growing a lot has a great appetite, and urinates after every feeding. She is approximately 4-5 weeks old. I’m concerned because I slowly transitioned her from goat milk formula to fox valley 20/50 formula beginning Tuesday evening and into yesterday. She is now only on fox valley formula. However, she has not pooped at all since yesterday morning. Is this normal when changing formulas? She doesn’t seem to be bloated. Her stomach is round but not firm. I already tried a warm soak today to try to help but she still didn’t go. Should I be worried? Any advice would be great. She weighs 83g and her eyes still have not opened if that’s helpful.

Have you examined the bedding to be sure she hasn’t gone on her own? How long have you had her? Had she pooped from the goats milk formula prior or was it moms milk dark poop?

I have examined the bedding and found nothing. She was pooping on the goats milk formula, not with every feeding but she was going. The poops were a golden colored pellet. Her first two poops after I found her on Thursday were dark in color from mom’s milk. I only had her on the goat milk formula until the fox valley arrived on Tuesday

Did you transition slowly to the Fox Valley? Try another warm soak up to her armpits and gently massage hr belly in a downward direction. A little diluted apple juice might help too

Yes, I did slowly transition to the Fox Valley. I’ll try another soak. That was the technique I used the first time too. Thanks for the advice on the apple juice. Should I dilute in some water and give it to her between feedings. I worry about continuing to feed her if she doesn’t void. There’s no way the apple juice can harm her?

Yes dilute it. The apple juice is fine for her.

She pooped about an hour and a half after having a small amount of diluted apple juice! Thank you!

FYI my little one, took in at about 6 weeks, went from loose yellow on the temp goats milk to firm, brown much like when she was with mom. But it took a couple of days on fox valley for the nice, firm poops to begin.

That was about 5 weeks ago and now she's a poop machine.
