    Exclamation Upper respiratory infection

Hey guys, posting this here just for some questions. Peanut has a cold/uri (mucus in nose and fever). She's getting medication today from the vet but I was wondering if there was anything I could do in the meantime for her (while waiting). Thanks in advance for any info.

How is Peanut tonight? What drugs did the vet give her? Remember that most drugs will dehydrate squirrels so keep those fluids coming, whether it's Pedialyte, water with a bit of honey, or just plain water.

I apologise I didn't see the reply! The vet gave her baytril, a quarter tab in the morning and at night. She's disinterested in her food right now so I've been giving organic yogurt (full fat whole milk with cultures) and some treats that are her favorites (just to get something in her) No wheezing or any clicking, she's just warm and sneezing (runny nose) right now.

Sounds like you're on the right track. There is one squirrel virus I've had invade my home a couple of times over the years -- we facetiously called it the 'sneezles' because they do sneeze a LOT. The bug goes through their systems and antibiotics don't touch it (it's viral), but all of mine always recovered fully. Could be something like that, too.

Oh god, that makes me feel better. I've been stressing myself out for the past 2 days and listening to her chest like a mad man! I hope whatever it is clears up soon!
