    Question Injured Release Squirrel

    Good Morning,
We released our 1 year old male Fox Squirrel, Oliver, Tuesday morning after 1 week in the Release Cage.
Wednesday morning he had an injured front paw.
He was moving slow and resting alot so we brought him home to watch him over the weekend while he recuperates. His eyes still look like hes in pain.
He doesnt feel good, but he uses his paw to eat with.
Another TSB member and experienced squirrel rehabber recommended I give him Metacam suspension 1.5 mg/ml. and suggested I ask on TSB what the dosing should be. I dont know his weight, and he wouldnt hold still for me if I weighed him.
Does anyone here know what would be a safe dosing for him? I think he is a normal sized 1 year old, not fat.
I will attach a picture of him, incase that is of any help.

To help with the weight, I know that the foxers are larger than the eastern grays. Do you have eastern grays in your area and if so, is Oliver about the same size, or a little bigger? Or a lot bigger?

    Hi Critter Mom,
    Thanks for responding.
I dont think we have grey squirrels down here...I think he is larger I dont have much experience with them.
Am at the vet now. I estimated he is a pound.and the vet looked up a 1 yr old Fox squirrel and said that sounds right for his age. So he said to give him .1cc the 1st day, and half that amount the following days, and sent me with 5 days worth. Does that sound alright?
