Default Pulled out a nail - please help

Peanut has pulled a nail from his back right foot. We gave him a bath and cleaned the wound with betadine (diluted 1/20), and now have him tucked into clean blankets with a heating pad. Do we need to bandage his foot? And what is the ratio for baby ibuprofen to give him? He is 9 months old and weighs approximately 1.9 pounds (861 grams).

He's a big boy! The dose for infant ibuprofen for 861 g is 0.2 ml every four hours but it can cause stomach upset, to see if twice a day will suffice and I would rinse it twice a day with the betadine, like you did and pat dry with a clean paper towel. I think you will annoy him and he will go at it more if covered, plus, if it isn't bleeding it will dry out if open to air and heal faster. A photo would be great, if you can get one.

Edit: Also, figure out how he did it so he doesn't do it on another nail.

Thank you! That weight was a typo he is 724 grams at last weigh-in (1 month ago). We have been doing the betadine solution 2x/day as you recommended. He had stopped bleeding by the tie we found out (poor thing). And we found the nail outside and are going to redesign his outdoor enclosure to prevent this. He is in his inside kennel for now while he heals and recovers. Attached are the best pics I could get so far. Thanks again for all your help and advice.

Ouch! That might not grow back but missing one toenail won't slow him down a bit when he gets past the pain and the wound heals. No doubt he will be fine. I would just watch it to make sure it doesn't get infected.

Mookie lost a claw on his right front paw while being overwintered.

I am 99% sure that the claw was totally gone at the start. This may have been due to being torn all the way off, but I suspect Mookie chewed it off himself after it was injured.

The claw totally grew back in 5-6 weeks and looks completely normal.

I did zero first aid on it, as there was never any sign of infection and Mookie kept it clean himself.

    Thank you!

Peanut is doing really well. We’re probably being overly cautious, but he is our little baby. The wound seems to be completely closed up. He played and zoomed today and was unencumbered by the missing nail.
