Default HELP: Little guy with broken arm, but NO vets are lawfully allowed to treat it.

I found a squirrel who had been hit by a car. The right arm is broken. Unfortunately, in my state they will euthanize any non-native squirrel if I take it for medical attention regardless of whether the injuries are treatable or not.

How well can an arm heal on its own if I take care of the squirrel and give it shelter, food and water?

If I take it to a neighbor state they can treat it but may euthanize it if they want to, because I would need to surrender it. It seems like some rehabilitators are reluctant to treat a squirrel with a broken limb.

What do you think I should do?

    Thank you!

Some breaks can heal on their own, depends on the break
    and the severity of it.
Can he feel his "fingers" if you lightly squeeze them?

The first thing you need to do is contain it and take it in,
we can help guide you on it's care from there.
The inability to climb leaves it susceptible to being caught
    by a prey animal.

I have been feeding her and giving her water, I built a little shelter for it and she is at my house. She has been resting, eating and drinking water. I have not been able to see if she has pooped but so far she seems ok.

Hello all!!! Something wonderful happened! I just came home and the squirrel escaped! Meaning it's recovering. It tried climb up the window. It's hiding on the windowsill Yay! Now I need to not get bitten.

Thank you Step N Stone and Nancy... it seems the squirrel will be just fine. I had picked it up on Saturday and today I noticed it has really healed after the grand escape. It climbed up all the way up my top windows.

I am profoundly thankful. I have talked to a rehabilitator who Nancy contacted me with and she suggested we took it back to where we found her tomorrow morning.

    Take care!
