Baby mouse has poo stuck to his bum

Hi, I am currently raising an orphaned baby mouse. His eyes opened two days ago so I am assuming he is around 2 weeks old.
Every time the mouse goes poo it seems to get stuck half inside his bum, and will stay there unless I take it off. Whenever I take it off he squeaks as if he is in pain. The area around his bum seems a bit red and is sensitive whenever touched. I also find it difficult to tell after peeing him whether or not what is coming out is remnants of what was stuck from when he went on his own or if it is something new. Lastly, is it still necessary to help him pee at this age? Thanks

I've never raised a baby mouse.
BUT it the poo is stickiing you may want to offer
a little more hydration in between feeding to make
the poop a little looser.
You can do so by adding just a touch of honey in some
water and offering it that way.
With squirrels, I always stimulate them as long as they
allow, it keeps the bedding so much cleaner.

If you have triple antibiotic cream, without zinc oxide, but a
dab on his little bum if you see that it's raw.

I gave him some sugar water before and after his feeding, now I'm just waiting to see how it goes. He does appear extremely bloated. He won't let me pee him no matter what I do and I'm not sure if he is going on his own.

Give him a couple of drops of simethicone.

I'm not sure what simecithon is. He is pooping but it is still only coming half way out.

Ask the pharmacist if they have baby gas drops.

Name brand Mylanta is baby gas drops. Be sure they are for infants. They make an adult version, too. There are other brands too.

When I left for work today I asked my dad (who has experience feeding baby animals) to feed Edgar while I was gone. When I came home he told me that Edgar has escaped and is loose somewhere in my room. We set up a humane mouse trap along with food and water. It's been several hours and he still hasn't been found ( although he did manage to set off the trap and then escape a few times). I'm really worried about him and I'm not sure what else to do.

We finally got Edgar in the trap after 12 hours. When we found him he seemed stuck so we had to force him out. He doesn't seem very tame anymore as if his time roaming took him back to his wild roots. When I tried to give him sugar water he kept running away (before he would sit happily in my hand). Also you can see a lot of his skin through his fur and it is very red, he almost looks like he's balding. I don't really know what to do at this point I know I should keep him but he seems too wild to be kept indoors. Help us very much appreciated

May be he's just a hot mess from the situation. Why don't you give him a comfy, quiet place to rest and after a while gently remind him that you have the food, whisper sweet nothings to him and see how he's doing. I'll bet he's stressed and needs a time out. I don't know a THING about mice, but two weeks sounds too young to put outside.

Edgar is doing a lot better now and has doubled in size. I have however noticed a few problems. The first is that he isn't taking to solids much, I keep bread and crackers soaked in water and formula and he seems to only lap up the liquid and not eat any solids. I also put in dry oats, bread, peanut butter, crackers, and mouse food which he has yet to touch. He is well past the age were weaning begins so I am growing concerned. Also as I said when I started the thread Edgar cannot poo without it getting stuck to his bum. I noticed just now that he had ripped it off himself and now his bum hole appears extremely large and irritated. Lastly I wanted to know if it is still necessary for me to keep a heating pad under his cage since he is well over three weeks.

Becky, how old is he? I just read that at four weeks they get formula every 4 hours, three weeks every three hours, two weeks, etc.

Can you post a pic of him and his bottom?

I also found this one too that says don't be frustrated if they aren't weaning right away, let them do it in their own time and feed formula until then.
