    Unhappy Injured foot

I have an 8 week old rescue, who yesterday, jumped to the floor and injured his foot. I fear it's broken. (I wish I could do the whole rehab process outside on the soft earth)

    Back, left foot:
He holds it up and away from his body when walking. The pinkie toe looks to be at a strange angle (see photo). His toes are able to grip, which is good. I am not in an area where xray would be possible. Hard to tell if it's the whole foot, or just the toe.

He is resting more than usual, but also tries to climb the bars and branches in his cage when he sees me. I am thinking cage rest in a carrier that he can't climb in is best. (Could depression play a role?...he was very active prior to the injury) I can't imagine splinting a squirrel, but please advise. I have splinted birds, but not mammals.

He regurgitated the small amount of arnica I gave.

Please advise on anything I can do to hep this guy have a life in the trees one day!

    Thank you!!
    Shelly

Please reconsider the arnica. Go to the pharmacy and get some infant ibuprofen and we can help you to dose it as long as you have a weight for him.
    Squirrels, squirrels and more squirrels....
Prayers for the people who make this a better world...
