    Default Ivermectin Dosing

    Hi,

Just a little help please! I need some assistance dosing Ivermectin for my released squirrels who are showing signs of mange - redness, swelling around the eyes, small patches of dry flaky skin on their bellies. The 3 boys all share the same nest and are showing signs of it.

I have a 1% liquid solution that I need to administer. I need some help diluting and also to know what is the best way to administer - orally or topically? I can catch and handle them very easily so either way is possible. I just want to do whatever is safest and most effective. It is going to be rainy tomorrow (I'm not sure if that would affect topical administering).

    Thanks so much!

    Christina

    This is dosed by weight.

    Can you post a picture?
If you can give this topically, that's great.
I will send you dosing instructions once we have a guesstimate
of the weight. Since this is being dosed topically, I feel better
if we can't get an exact weight, we will still be conservative though.
Can you tell me how old they are?

Do you have steril water, and a 1 cc syringe or smaller?
Also since this is the liquid, do you have a syringe with a needle to draw the liquid up
from. The bottle will typically have that rubber stopper over it.

All three squirrels are full-grown adults. We released them in the fall. Two of them are very large now - born in August. The third and oldest (and with the most irritation) was a runt born last April, so he is a bit smaller.

I was given the Ivermectin from another rehabber we work with who lives close by - she drew up the liquid into a 1cc syringe with a needle and gave us the whole syringe, needle and all, so I do have that. The smallest syringes I have (without a needle) are 1cc and .5cc.

I do not have the sterile water but I can get some.

I attached pictures of the smallest of the three - he is 9 months old. The two others are much larger than him but only about 5 months old.

    Thanks so much,

    Christina

So the syringe that you have the ivermectin in is a syringe that measures cc/mls correct, not units?
If so, I will send you dosing through a pm.
I think a safe guess on the weight would be 400 grams and this will all be applied topically, correct?
It's great that you can still handle them!
