Question My ground squirrel Rosie turns out to be a boy

Well we have had Rosie since he was about 4 wks old, my son luckily found him outside his nest. So I did my research to figure out what she/he was and all the info i found said he was a girl but now he has sprouted testicles and they HUGE, they started of like the size of a pea but now there as big as nickel both of them. he doesnt act like they hurt and they are sorta turning blackish colored on the bottom side what could possibly be the issue? could this be something serious and he need to see vet? If anyone some clue as to why they seem so big in relation to his body. Thank You

They sound normal for squirrels. They are larger at certain times of the year due to hormones. I am accustomed to gray squirrels, but I sus[ect they are similar. They can look dark colored also. Does he seem otherwise healthy?
