    Default lumps under his armpits

    Hi all,
sorry for not being online in a while.
I am really concerned about Choko's health right now.
I found some lumps under his armpits. For a few months his got this, but thought that he is little overweight, because they got bigger and pendulous.
Today accidently i felt this marble in his chest. The right one is little bigger than left.
Can it be connected with hit diet? I hope it is not something dangerous.

I'm feeding him with homemade crackers, containing wholewheat flour, different seed and nuts like linseed, poppy, sesame, walnuts and hazelnuts. Adding some Vitabone vitamins and extra calcium, to compensate the nuts.
The biggest part of his diet is based on fruits and vegetables: apples, cucumbers, apricots (apricot pits that I am not very sure whether it is right to give him), lettuce, carrots, aronia, pears, cherries, wild plums.
Moreover morning give him one Drops snack brand Vitapol (writes that contain vitamins and minerals that strengthen bones of rodents and rabbits)
from now I am canceling the giving of these droplets as currently thought that relatively at the same time started to grow breasts.
He doesn't looks feel any pain or something. Perhaps this is why I am not taken due note.

The other thing i am watching for some time is that his testicles were quite red and shiny. Veterinarians here reassured me that this is normal as he can be in the breeding period and thus reflects the lack of female. This brings me to the following question, is it necessary to have a female, for his health?

Sorry, i cant upload pictures, i don't know why. Tomorrow morning i will try again.

Okay, I can answer some, but not all of your questions. FIrst thing...no more pits. They are not good for them as they contain toxins. Next, no they do not need a female, but they do have a "season" that will pass. As for the really important question, I am not sure about the lumps. Can you get rodent block at a pet store? It is probably a better way to get him the best nutrition. Too many nots and seeds are not at all good.

    Thank you for reply SammysMom!
I understand that, no more pits for Choko!

Unfortunately i can't find here any rodent blocks, which i can gave him. That is the reason why i started to make them at home. First i started with this receipe http://squirrelrefuge.org/squirrelblock.html, but the protein powder makes diahhrea. I remove the eggs and protein from the receipe, and everything works fine.

I can buy some rodent blocks online, but i don't know what kind of. About an year ago my boyfrient speak with some agent from Henry's. Their blocks can not travel long outside the freezer and transport to Bulgaria would take 2-3 weeks.

It is not problem to try another receipe, or if someone can suggest other blocks, to try find them in Europe will be great.

could be cysts or fatty tumors, see if your vet can get some cells out with a needle and have them checked out. Its called a FNA fine needle aspirate. Rats get lump a lot and squirrels are rodents too.

Not sure if you ever got a response about which rodent blocks are good for your squirrel, but since you are unable to get the Henry's blocks, you need to get a high quality rodent block. Are you able to find this Oxbow Regal Adult Rat food by chance?

It is one of the better commercial rodent blocks available - squirrels do have specific nutrition needs, so it is important to find food that will meet those needs adequately.

I may be incorrect but from looking at the pics, it just looks like fat deposits. I have quite a few with 'squoobs'. It is not uncommon in 'pet squirrels' to see fat deposits around the armpit area, as they do not burn nearly as much calories as their wild counterparts (and eat much more as a general rule as well). I am sure others will chime in, but unless these seemingly just popped up overnight, I would not be overly concerned. Btw, your little one is adorable!
