Default Can't stimulate baby to relieve himself.

    Hello All!

Rescued a baby Gray squirrel this morning after some gardeners chained sawed their nest up. One was pretty scraped up.. nothing to deep but his bellies got some nicks.

Got him hydrated and he went both ways.. but after that initial time he's had 4 feeds and I haven't been able to.

Is this normal or is there any tricks I can do.

Also, he is not bloated and is yawning and taking the bottle perfect. Feeding him pedyalite and Esbilac mixture.
looks to be 4-5 weeks. Has the pencil tail, has teeth, but eye's aren't open.

    Thanks again!

Ok, never feed pedialyte mixed with formula, and also pedialyte should never be given for more then 24 hours, as it will then begin to dehydrate. If you need to give extra fluids, just give plain water, or sugar water. Sometimes it can take a while for things to get moving. Esp. if it poops out its mom poops then the new food has to make its way through the system. How much does he weigh and how much/often are you feeding?

Only mixed the pydialite for the first 4 feedings because he looked dehydrated, I'll stop now.
    He weighs 70 grams and I've been feeding him 2 1/2 - 3 CC's every 3 hours.
    Thanks for the response!

Trying giving some plain water in between his feedings, to see if that gets things going.

Great advise Pappy! If he resists the plain water, you can add a bit of sugar. I tablespoon to a cup of warm water. Remember that everything you give should be very warm, almost hot.

Thank you I think this worked!
We got a #2 but still no pee, but at least I know he's doing alright down there. I was a little worried he had some internal damage but the scrapes really don't/didn't look that bad.
    Thanks again!
