Leave the light on in the room that you have the trap near the opening when you go to bed. Maybe once everyone is out of the area and asleep, she will get out of Dodge...

He has to be exhausted and weak by now, but apparently he is not desperate enough to leave his home in the wall quite yet. He has been spotted near the opening multiple times, and we wedged a towel in there, in case he needed better traction to climb out, but he just won't come out of the wall.
Coming out that hole that's had him trapped is scary...
Can you fasten some type of platform he could venture out on with a branch or something he can retreat on?

I keep clicking on this thread hoping to see "He is free" but not yet

    Any news this morning?

I like the idea of putting something for him to stand on. Any chance you could put water and some nuts too? Maybe that will lure him out.

Sweet freedom! Our little "Clinger"(he is very innovative and social, and likes to cling to our porch door to let us know it's feeding time LOL) finally came out of the wall and into the live trap. He was understandably scared and unwilling to eat anything, but we let him out in the yard and he sprinted up the tree he lives in. I'm sure he will be traumatized for a while, and probably not chewing his way back into our house again anytime soon, but he seems strong and perfectly fine and we hope to see him again soon, under less stressful circumstances. Thanks to everyone for your consideration and help! It was quite the long ordeal, but got to love a happy ending!

We are so happy that Clinger is back in his hometown backyard, and anxiously awaiting his first visit after his release. Will he be traumatized by the wall incarceration and his unhappy cage experience, and not want to come around for a while?
We tried apples, peanuts, peanut butter, seeds, just about every yummy squirrel bait we could think of, but ultimately I think Clinger went into the cage more out of exhaustion than anything. He spent the majority of his time hanging on to a 2x4 close to the hole we made for him. There was all kinds of food and water, and an easy out for him at our makeshift hole, but he surprised us by heading back down to the basement and going into the trap right where he entered the ceiling. I'm not sure if we should have cut through the wall or not, but we were prepared to cut down the whole thing if he didn't come out soon.

Yay! You were willing to cut down the wall? You are awesome!

Clinger came for his first visit today, and seems like his usual happy self. He calmly hung on the door and waited for me to give him his treat, which he always takes from my hand. He appears to be perfectly healthy and not holding any grudges against our house for his extended stay in the wall.

Great picture! I am so happy that you came back to let us know he came back around. Food outweighs worry I guess...

That photo just proves that they are creatures of habit--

You had better start closing off entry points..and unfinished basements need hardware cloth(wire) across any openings...a simple H.Duty stapler and some wire and you can cover a lot of holes.
