5 week old with bloat

I have a new rehab that has been with me for three days, he never really ate well
and today when I woke up he had bloat (real bad). I know all the in & outs of how
to treat for bloat...... have already soaked him a few times and got some poop out
of him which helped, but he is still remains bloated, miserable and in discomfort.

I am presently out of gas-x and will not be able to get any until my husband gets
home from work, therefore, I was wonderful if a little crushed up Tums might help
with the boat as he looks pregnant and whimpers when ever I touch him.

I would not use Tums....calcium is very constipating and that's exactly what you don't want.
Keep massaging him lightly and soaking in warm water until you get the simethicone (Gas-X, etc). Just curious -- was the formula half FV 32/40?

No, the FV is the 20/50 --he has a brother that came in with in that is doing fine.

I know its best to hold all formula until the bloat is resolved, but do
you think some water will be ok so he does not go all day with out
any think to drink? --I would hate for him to get dehydrated as well.

Very small amounts, maybe every hour, but as little as you can give him without him dehydrating. Keep checking (tent test) and don't give him fluids until you really have to.

Switch to bottled spring water for the formula and get some gas x.

If he is still having bloat 24 hours from now after the bottle spring water and gas x then suspect that he may have some sort of infection or parasites. Esp since his sibling is doing fine.

If your not over feeding ( Which I doubt you are ) and the formula was all fresh but had sat the proper time.. ( Which I am sure you are ) and all was clean and soap free ( which I am sure your doing right cause this is not your first rodeo )

The trainer said that the Simeth ( gas x) should help with in 20 min to an hour.. and if it does not do the trick and its not gone in 24 hours then its something else that needs treatment.. Infection or parasite. She suggested SMZ TMP but that may be too slow. I know some here either love it or hate it.

She also said some animals react to different things in the water. Some may do great with City water.. some do great with well water. But some have problems with either or. So she said Spring water. She prepares her formula JUST LIKE YOUR VIDEOS so .. We know your not blending in a blender

So.. Mix your formula with spring water, give gas x when you get it, soak and do all those things you have been doing. If he is still having trouble this time tomorrow then you might consider medications.

His belly is soft now, but still slightly bloated, therefore, I will give gasx when it gets here.
