    Default Ginger skipped dinner tonight?

Hi everyone! I feed Nutmeg and Ginger 2x daily. Formula in the morning and formula in the evening. And although they are not eating blocks yet (still shredding them), we still leave them a couple in their cage for while we're at work.

Ginger has always had a very healthy appetite, and I'm sure I'm being paranoid, but he skipped his formula dinner tonight and only shredded his block! Is this normal behavior or could something be wrong with him?

His energy level is VERY high, and has been put in time out a couple of times already for biting mommy's toe a bit too hard =).

Am I just worrying too much or could something be wrong?

I am a little concerned that they are down to 2x a day formula, but not eating blocks yet. How old are they again?

I'm guessing around 12 or 13 weeks. They went down to 2 times a day as that was their choice. I've tried feeding them 3x but they were refusing.

I'm trying to get them to like blocks, but they just aren't interested yet.

Edit// they went down to 2x a week about a week or two ago.. if that helps.

The won't eat anything else. Just formula and they're shredding blocks.

I've read not to start them on other foods until they are eating the blocks so that's what I've been doing.

Should I change their diet or wait until they decide to eat something else?

I had that problem with my first set of squirrels. They would NOT eat blocks or show interest in any food as long as they were getting formula 2 times a day. I cut mine down to once a day at 10 weeks and that solved the problem.

But I am not sure that was the best way to handle it. That said, it worked and did not seem to have ill effects.

But.. Some other options you might try is ..
    Soaking the blocks in formula.
    Or
Warming the blocks up to make them soft and warm .

How much are you feeding them formula wise? Are you feeding 5 or 7 percent?
Maybe try cutting down to 5% twice a day.

Hopefully more people will have more ideas .

What type/kind of block are you attempting to feed them?

I have been feeding them 7%, so I will try and cut them down to 5%. We always give them blocks before their meals, but I guess they only shred them because they know they'll get formula afterwards.

I have been getting Henry's Healthy Blocks Hi-Protein Blocks - for baby squirrels and flyers.
