Exclamation Fell out of nest today, HELP

le baby has its eyes shut and very little hair.He has a bump on his head from the fall. He was pretty cold when I got him, he is warmed up now. He can't pee cause he has a hard crust on his penis. I don't know if he skinned it when he fell or what. He wiggles around alot. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Snarllet

Poor baby! Good that you have him warmed up! It's best to use a heating pad set on ''low'' placed under half his enclosure.

Are you aware of any rehabbers in your area??

Odds are that this little boy has one or more siblings. (Can you check for more?) Baby squirrels, when hungry, will often mistake a penis for their missing mother's teat. It's very important that the scab be removed asap so that the baby is able to urinate. Dampen a clean cloth with warm water and apply it to the scab until it is softened and can be picked off. After the scab is removed apply antibiotic ointment to the skin until healed.

Are you able to get some Pedialyte tonight? (available in the baby section of all grocery and drug stores) He can be fed this tonight. Tomorrow you will need to buy powdered Esbilac puppy formula at a pet supply store.

Plenty of advice still to come!

You will also need a syringe or an eye dropper. Don't use the little baby bottles!!

Dosing syringes are available at pharmacies - ask the pharmacist for a 1 cc syringe. Syringes are preferable to eye droppers.
