Oh my, I can just imagine what you are experiencing with this little girl. We just picked up a dehydrated squirrel from my brothers house. It's a little boy & he is precious! Is this your 1st time? They will wrap their little paws around your heart & that's where they will stay regardless of if you release or keep. Ask for guidence and you will know what's best when that time comes. That little girl is in good hands. Thank you for taking care of this little one♡ She's a gift & you will understand a whole new love on a whole new level!!!

If it's gas, have you tried a couple drops of infant gas-x?

I have not gave her any today. I did yesterday and it seemed to help. I'm not sure how often you can give it. I'm not sure the dose either. I gave her one tiny drop. I've checked several posts and they just say a few drops. I didn't know the "exact dose" and was scared to give too much.

Does anyone think that this little one may benefit from Lactobacillus?

You can give a couple of drops of simethicone several times a day, and he'll be fine.

Here's a good link on bloat, and other problems. We need pictures to see if he is actually bloated, and if so
    how bad it is.

Here are some pictures. Hopefully you can tell. Her belly is not hard. She is passing lots of gas when stimulated so it is getting better. From some reason early in the day it gets really bad. Bad enough that I'm scared to feed her. My husband says she's just "full figured" and I'm being paranoid. Maybe I am.

She is just the tiniest little thing ever.
She's 3 weeks today, if my math is correct.

Is she just getting the Esbilac with probiotics or do
    you add heavy cream?

Her belly does look "stretched", but I am glad that it
    is soft.

Was this picture taken after she ate, or before?

I think she may be closer to 4 based on her ears starting to open and her eyes look like they are ready to open any day. She's finally starting to look like a real squirrel...even if she is tiny. I have been waiting on the cream because I thought that may make the runny poo worse. Those pictures were about 2 hours after eating. These are a few minutes after eating. In person, she looks like her belly will pop any moment. It's still soft and still not much poo.

Good I'm glad there is no cream yet. I was thinking that could be her problem, but guess not.
4 weeks old and she is still so darned tiny and adorable.
Not sure about others, but I am NOT overly concerned with how she looks now.
As you said, her tummy is NOT hard which is key.
Could she be pooping in her bed?
Something is just not agreeing with her little tummy I think, and it's making her gassy,
    but what?
I do wonder if she would benefit from Lactobacillus.
Here's a link, see what you think.
You can order this from Squirrels and More or
from Fox Valley Nutrition, it's called LA 200.

It makes me feel SOOOOOO much better that you are not too concerned. There is no poop in her bed unless it's clear. I guess I will stick to the infant gas-x and try to get that tummy down. I will order her some lactobacillus. The only thing that I have done differently (starting last week) is heating her formula up in a cup that is floating on hot water instead of super super slow and low in the microwave. Surely that wouldn't matter?? Thank you so so much! This squirrel mommy business is no joke. It's like a full time job but it is already worth all the stress!

We don't recommend microwaving the formula. Most of us warm it up just like you are doing now and we often use a cup warmer to keep it from cooling off too much during the feedings. This isn't as big an issue when you are dealing with just one but when you are feeding several it's many trips to the microwave to re-heat the cup of water.

Oh it sure is worth all of this.
Though, let's face it, your little one is not
the easiest one to start your squirrel rehabbing with.
Definitely one of the cutest, just not the easiest.

Just a little update...Our eyes are opening!!!!! I am so excited. Honestly, there were several times that I thought sweet Mavis would never make it to this day. Any tips and pointers for the weeks to come would be great. She is 61 grams today. She is still having tummy issues even though the LA 200 has helped a lot. Thank you all for helping her get this far!

She will probably become much more active and might be skittish for awhile.
