The Essbilac in Montreal is very expensive!.. The best way it's to go on the temporary Goat milk formula and order the fox valley.

IMPORTANT: add a note to the order to send the milk with $20 maximum value to avoid paying importation taxes.
it takes 1 week to 10 days to get the milk to Montreal.

    Hi everyone! Just an update:

Iwonka has kindly supplied me with a heating pad, a few syringes + a rubber nipple, and some fox valley formula

She has another squirrel about the same age, and she will be bringing him over tomorrow so that neither one has to be alone. I do not mind caring for them both until they're ready to be re-released.

Once again, if anything urgent comes up, I can be reached at september.cowley@gmail.com

Thanks for all the help, everyone!

Thank you so much for helping out this little one and taking on
    this responsibility.
So many babies and not enough people, and you step up and help out.
If you get a chance, start a thread in the nursery of your baby and your new little arrival.
You are one fantastic person, thank you!

That's so great. I hope we get to hear about and see their adventures growing up!

Yes, I will of course keep you guys posted on how both of them are doing! And it's really no problem - my dad also loves animals and we were always rescuing all sorts of things when I was growing up, so it's a pretty natural thing for me.

Also, I have been trying to feed her the Fox Valley formula and she seems to not like the taste - however, she has started taking an interest in dried fruit (not sweetened or treated with anything of course) and sunflower seeds, etc. (there were still some in her cage from when I first got her a day or so ago and wasn't sure what she'd eat).

Is there something I can do about her not wanting to eat the formula? Could I possibly slowly introduce it by starting with 3 parts Esbilac to 1 part Fox Valley, then move to 1/2 1/2 and just keep upping the amount of the new formula? And is it okay for her to be eating solid foods, and if so, what? I read things like apple pieces, sunflower seeds, etc., is this correct?

    Thanks again!

Yes, roll it in. You can also add a drop or two of maple syrup.

No fruits and nuts at this age. Formula or blocks only.

You will need a good quality squirrel block. Most people here get HHB's.
    Here's the link:
    http://www.henryspets.com/
Get the growth blocks and also the ones for picky eaters.
If she doesn't care for the FV then just continue on with the Esbilac and don't worry
    about the FV.
The dried fruit and seeds and nuts are a huge NO. You would think differently, but when they
are in captivity we HAVE to feed them what's good for them, and not what they may like.
Here is a link to the healthy diet.
She can eat as much as she wants from group 1 and 2, and in group 3 limited amounts.
Look at the chart carefully. Many even print this out and hang it where it's handy.
The diet is KEY to a healthy squirrel.
Formula is ALSO key to a squirrel this young, so go back to the Esbilac if that's what
    she will take.

UGH, I just noticed that she is on the old Esbilac. OK did you try introducing the FV gradually?
Do 1/4 FV and 3/4 Esbilac for about 3 feedings then do 1/2 FV 1/2 Esbilac for about 3 feedings, then do 3/4 Fox Valley 1/4 Esbilac.
Also try making it quite warm, not hot but real warm, sometimes they like it better when it's almost hot.
    Does Amazon ship to Canada?
Here is a great sale on the correct Esbilac if they do.
And the correct diet is also in the link below the Esbilac link.

Okay, I've gone through the cage thoroughly and made sure there's no other fruits in there, and am looking over the squirrel nutrition page. I also am trying to slowly introduce the Fox Valley formula, and that seems to be working fine.
