Hey! I have an 11 year old squirrel that's with me because he is disabled (paralyzed front leg). He got a penis prolapse a year ago and the vet was able to fix it.
However it came back this year. The vet stitched him up a few days ago, and it just happened again even though the stitches are still there! He even has the neck wrap to keep from biting his penis. Does this mean something else is wrong with him? Is there anything I can do besides the sugar/lubrication?
I'm really hoping he isn't getting to the end of his life, the vet said everything else looked good including blood levels, so not sure why this keeps happening. (she did say slightly high liver level which could be because of injury). Before this he acted fine, but is slowing down a little with age.
Diet: mix of veggies/herbs in the morning, squirrel block at night, occasionally nuts at night as well.
-he's been a little pickier since the prolapse and won't eat as much
